Alcohol is second to tobacco as the cause of preventable death and hospitalistion in Australia. One recent estimate of the total cost of alcohol-related crime put the figure at $1.7 billion. Drinking in moderation in Australia is acceptable and 'drinking to get drunk' is unacceptable
